I am new here, and I really don't use forums much, so I hope this is the right place to post. Sorry if it's not, but I'm hoping I can get an answer. This is the closest to one of my problems that I've seen as I searched, so anyway... I have a 1980 528i and the front passenger window doesn't really roll down. If it does, then it gets stuck in the down position, so I have to keep it rolled up. Sometimes this happens to one or both of the rear windows as well. Also, the sun roof will no longer roll open; it only tilts up, and then it gets stuck in the open position. Is this old wiring needing to be replaced? How would one remove door panels to check? Is it something I should leave to a mechanic, if neither my husband nor myself know much about car repair? (The car was bought new by my grandmother, and now, years later, it's mine.) It has other problems, too, like the door lock mechanisms and the gas flap latch mechanism not working. I can't lock my car, and I have to open my trunk to manually pull back the gas flap latch whenever I need to fill up the tank. Also, the left turn indicator activates the brights when the headlights are turned on. I am trying to decide whether I need to have all these things fixed or try to get a new car. Any advice would be great. (Sorry this is long.)
