I have a similar issue, however my 88 Jeep 2.5L TBI Cherokee idles rough when the A/C kicks in and slowly recovers. It seems that a switch/solenoid keeps clicking near the passenger side, but I don't know what it is, and the A/C clutch engages and disengages quite often. Any thoughts? As for when I came to a stop and had a low/rough idle, my EGR needed to be replaced - stuck open from what I could tell - idles smooth as long as A/C is off.
