Fuel Gauge Problems

I have a 2000 LS 4.3L With a fuel gauge acting more like a windshield wiper. It goes to empty when it's full and if you shake the truck it will jump to full but It doesn't let me know where I'm at on fuel. Any Help!!!

Re: Fuel Gauge Problems

farirly easy, the fuel level sender unit can be kind of expencive call an auto parts store for a price. dropping the ges tank is hard sometimes if the strap bolts are rusted up, try and do it with an almost empty tank, some guys take the bed off.

Re: Fuel Gauge Problems

sending unit about $150 and with out a doubt easier to take the bed off rather than drop the tank. also the wires are notorious for breaking off right where they enter the top of the sending unit so check there you maybe able to resplice it or solder a new wire to were it may have broken. I replaced a fuel pump on my 88 s10 blazer to reinstall it, and find out it was a bad power wire at the top going into the pump that went bad and not the pump
