Inspection Mileage?

My car (2001 330CI) is nearing 30K miles, and my dash tells me my inspection will be due soon. When I called the service center, the guy seemed suprised that I was due an inspection already. How many miles do most people have when the inspection is due? Thanks...

Also, does anyone know if the inspection is covered under the warranty? Thanks

Services Are Based On Fuel Consumption
Starts/stops And Dist. Traveled. Mileage Almost Does Not Matter. Each Service Will Be About 10-15k Apart. Oil Service/inspection 1/oil Service/inspection II and so on.
