Better?...depends on your taste...HELLA louder tho. I'm not sure of disadvantages of removing it.

Re: Resonater removal Q

If you have a aftermarket exhaust(muffler), it'll make it sound a lot louder and a better deeper/higher tone depending on yer muffler.

Re: Resonater removal Q

i have a flowmaster on my dx right now with no resonator.....sounds too much like a metal can for me, it sounded better with the resonator on. but also im running 2.25" piping so that maybe a factor also. but it all depends on your muffler as well as your defenition of good

When I had my 90si, that pipe needed to be replaced, and a local place did it for $30, with out putting in a resonator (resonator=more $, and I didn't want to pay more). The car had a stock exhaust on it, and it sounded slightly deeper, and a bit louder (not much). There are no noticable gains/disadvantages (other than sound) from removing it.

Re: Resonater removal Q

REMOVAL.

You have 2 options.
1.Take off Bumper
2. Pull back mudshields in passengers side tire well and reach in.

I used method 2 when i removed mine because i didnt want to have to take off my bodykit. All it is is 2 10mm bolts that hold it on. One is in the front and one on the back.

Re: Resonater removal Q

I had a 2.5" custom catback exhaust with NO resonator and it sounded LOUD and ANNOYING so I got a resonator put in and it sounded a lot better. Wasn't so raspy.
