98 3.8 Firebird starts like it's flooded

I have a 98,3.8 Firebird with 42,000 miles on it that starts like it's flooded. I have to rev it a couple of times to clear it out after it starts. Once it is started, it runs great. The check engine light has never came on! What could this be?
