d-series RPM question and B16-swap question
Okay First off I have an a6 in the car now. I have a Gude cam in it that has an RPM range from 4500-8200 RPM.
Is the stock redline there because of shit that wants to start coming apart or because the cam isnt designed to make power at that RPM? If its the cam, does it hurt the motor (all that much) to run to 7500RPM for a short amount of time? If Im running my car hard I usually shift at about 7500RPM. OKay I am looking at a b16 swap. I have the chance to get the Wiring harness to would it make any of the swap shit easier? Or would the stock A6 harness work just as well? Are there any guides to swapping the motor in? I am worried to death about the gremlins that alot of ppl have with swaps and I want to do everything that I can to avoid them. I mainly would like to do as little cutting and splicing as possible to the harness. Please share any thoughts about what I have said. |

Swaping in a B16 is easy... It took me a weekend to do and I was alone. since you have MPFI it requires running 4 wires from the ECU to the Motor... yup 4... damn that's alot of work. the rest is a question of bolting everything up. with the right bolt in kit (hasports, HCP, place racing... ) makes everything real easy.
go to my cardomain site I have taken quite a few picture while doing the swap. http://members.cardomain.com/j963s If you have anymore questions qive me a call mate. Kun

This is truly sad. We spend 40 hours a week flaming newbies but no one knows weather or not 7500RPM will hurt my motor (not that I care its about dead anyways)

IDK which gude cam you have, but I know with the stock cam it will not cause problems. Have you upgraded the valve springs?

No the valve springs are stock as far as I know. The cam was in the motor when I bought it but I got the recipt from the purchase and I think its the #2436.

Re: d-series RPM question and B16-swap question
acording to the HP book for honda/acura performance no more than 7500rpms or 200hp which ever comes first should be put on the stock D16A6. The rods and the open deck are the weak points.

Re: Re: d-series RPM question and B16-swap question
hmm....okay so the HP books says that I shouldnt be able to hold the car at 8k for about 5 seconds then shift and repeat through the first 4 gears?
I wonder why this motor hasnt fallen apart. Maybe its cause I have no compression since I have blow by in all 4 cylinders |
