prepping for high boost.

in preparation for high boost i am going to mod my fuel and igniton systems...the set up i have in mind is; fuel rail, fuel press. reg., 550cc injec., anything else need to be modded for fuel systems??? ignition; spark plug wires, spark plugs, coil, amplifier, anything else???also if i purchase a ems i won't need a air fuel controller...right?? should i keep the stock intake and port it or go with a venom??

Depending on how high a boost you're talking about I can think of one very important thing you left out. A resleeved block with built internals (forged rods, pistons) probably new cams would help alot too. What motor are you about to ramp the boost up on? Is it already turboed and you're crankin on the controller or is it a new turbo all together?
If you're already built up inside then everything sounds pretty good to me. Not sure about the intake though i'll be waiting to see the answer on that one. Also I think it depends on the EMS you use whether you need the air/fuel controller. Pretty sure with the AEM one you don't. Not sure about Hondata and others.

the motor i am working on is a 92 ls b18a1 and as we speak i am having the block and head machined, blueprinted and re-assembled with performance internals...and same with the head...no i havent turboed the motor yet.

Jesus christ, if you expect good answers you really must explain your whole engine build and your turbo setup and such. also people like you shouldnt have turbo charged cars b/c you are building a block but you only have 550cc injectors but you went out and bought a stand alone. Jesus christ...i still cant get over the fact you spend $1200 on an EMS and you are asking questions like this.....

well if u would have read the opening post u would have noticed that i was asking if that was a good setup or not...that doesnt mean i already purchased the stuff then was asking if it was good...also i am not a rich kid...i am an 18 year old newb mechanic who supports himself...and wats wrong with 550cc??? not enouch??? well from doing a little research, since i am going with a hondata i can increase the fuel curve. will that make up for the 660cc injectors i should have purchased???

550cc will do fine(even though i havnt seen what psi you will be running). Do buy the Hondata....excellent fine tuning equipment.

well i got kinda lucky becuase i found a hondata dealer and dyno tuner all in 1 shop so thats pretty sweet. also i am getting a free turbo...it is a turbo off of a 91 supra...are they quick spoolers???

The only way you are going to get a really quick spool is from a Ball Bearing turbo.....not the one from a 91 Supra. BUT, it will do the job. What type of flange do they use on the Supra. You dont want to tie your hands by making a kit around a obsolete Turbo design. If that turbo fails.. then it wont be an easy swap out for a new turbo.

well thats a great point...the flange style im not to sure of, but im getting the turbo shipped from my dads junkyard then i have to get it repaired (the compressor wheel has a chip in it)...my dad is also sending me the manifold i dont think the flange will have to be fabricated but i will have to make a manifold the fits the head and fits the turbo so the old manifold will provide a good layout.

Whos making the manifold? And how much are they charging you?

Ok, way off topic but....does your dad have any 2000 Ford SVT 2.5L V6 motors? If he does, and depending upon miles and condition, i could work out a nice deal for some new Turbo equipment for the motor...just a thought.

Good luck...keep a close eye on how the motors being built and put together. Learn as much as possible, it will only help down the road.

Dont play around with the cooling system! You aren't thinking about using a used pump are you? Especially dont if that Turbo is oil and water cooled.

my pro shop will probably be making the manifold and im guessing it will be pretty expensive...and i will check up on ur motor situation asap, but dont get ur hopes up because i seriously doubt he has one but he might be able to get one....now if u can get me some parts to build a custom turbo kit i would really appreciate it.

i was thinking about buying a used water pump untill u said that...should i keep the stock water pump or go with a performance pump??

I carry all Turbonetics and Spearco performance parts.

We have Turbine wheels and Housings (including ball bearing housings), also compressor wheels. All flanges from wastegates to oil drain flanges to sensor bungs. Every thinkable silicon hump hose and 45deg and 90deg silicon elbows. Also carry Nitrile connectors.

Also, just replace the water pump and then buy a performance(aftermarket) oil pump. You lose oil... you lose your motor, including the Turbo.
