Re: 93 accord coolant temp sensor
It's right under the distributor. It's a weirdly shaped 1-wire plug.
Here's a picture of it circled, on the 2nd post: http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=3097857 This is the sensor that sends the temperature reading to the gauge cluster, if that's the one you're looking for. |

Re: 93 accord coolant temp sensor
the car gets really really hot and the fan never comes on until you turn the car off. the temp gauge never goes above half way. im not sure when the fan should kick on but i think if the gauge went past half way the fan might kick on at some point. i have already replace both the fan sensors the ones that are located where the 2 radiator hoses are. unless anyone else has any suggestions im gonna try replacing the temperature sending unit

The overheating issue might be due to 1. Bad thermostat 2. Clogged radiator 3. Failing water pump 4. Lack of coolant. I would also try to put power to the fan to make sure it works. Good luck, Sam

Post #6 gives you some information on how to test sending units. Good luck, Sam

Re: 93 accord coolant temp sensor
the sensor for the gauge doesn't turn the fan on. will be a 2 wire sensor close to the gauge sensor or in the radiator that does. you can test it and jumper across the 2 wires in the plug and the fan should come on with key on. also until the gauge shows about 3/4 gauge the fan isn't supposed to come on. should never get into the red but it does have to go above half. you can test the sensors to see if they are closing when it gets hot with a ohm meter

Re: 93 accord coolant temp sensor
i have tested the two sensors that make the fan come on and i have tested the fan but i was thinking if the temp gauge never even gets quite to half way maybe those sensors dont know to make it come on either way i know the car is getting way past half way hot. the water pump is fairly new but i read that if it gets real hot that can mess the water pump up

Re: 93 accord coolant temp sensor
how did the 2 sensers check in the radiator, should show infinite ohms till it get hot enough to turn fan on then 0 ohms resistance. try jumping across the plug and see if fan comes on, if temp gauge shows normal why do you think its getting to hot?

Re: 93 accord coolant temp sensor
by really hot i mean you cant barely touch the hood its so hot and i have a friend with an accord same year and on his car with his temp gauge showing the same lil less than halfway to hot mark the engine and hood are nowhere near as hot. i have jumped the wires on both fans and they come on i have replaced the relays the only time the fans come on are when the ac is on they both come on and when i shut the car off one of them runs
