All Honda engines are good. Will it get you into the 13's??? No, not without a significant amount of money and work. Is it worth the amount of money and work??? No because a DOHC with the same amount put into it will always come out on top. It's the same with the Y8. GSR springs??? GSR ecu??? These things won't help.

I have an '00 DX coupe myself, and so same motor. I'm in your same boat. I'm looking at various options for the motor. Your best bet WOULD be to swap out for that Y8 motor if you can, but to be able to do much with our Y7 motors, you'll more likely than not have to at least swap out your head for that from either a Y8 motor, or a D16A6 motor, this is called a "mini-me" swap. The Y7 head is the most limiting factor of the D16Y7 engine. Things I'm considering doing is getting a cam regrind of the cam in my engine by www.deltacam.com so that it performs just as an aftermarket cam would (good for up to 20hp dyno tested increase) I've heard getting that cam is equivallent to the gains seen with a mini-me swap. Basically the mini-me converts your engine to the specs of an EX D16Y8 motor, while ADDING VTEC to your engine, and gaining you roughly 20 extra horsepower. Then I'm thinking of swapping out my stock intake manifold and throttle body, and putting in a Y8 intake manifold, and either the Y8 throttle body, or a T/B from off an H22 Prelude motor, all of which will 100% bolt up together. I'm not sure what kind of gains that'll get you exactly, but I'm sure it's good for at least 25+ extra HP. Also porting out and polishing your head and getting a 4 angle valve job will increas power further, all relating to faster times. But it all comes down to building up a D-series engine decently will take at least $2000 if not more depending on how far you want to take it. Check out this site for further info and help on tweaking your D16 motor. Hope that helps you out some!
