AE86 Trueno

I've been working on a kouki Trueno from Aoshima, again kitbashing for some good parts.


Base kit.



Parts robbed from the other kits, the wheels pictured are from Fujimi but went with the Aoshima SSR XR-4.



Plan is for a semi daily driver that used touge runs.



Hood from the Car Boutique Club Trueno kit, the mesh was drilled out and molded hood pins removed to be replaced with photoetch ones.

Racing buckets had the seat holes opened out, planning on using a five point harness.



Sink marks filled with super glue and baking soda.



Mocked up with the Fujimi SSR XR-4, found that they wouldn't fit once the suspension was installed.



The suspension done and ready to go in once the chassis is painted.



Got the 4A-GE wired, made the boots from leftover wire.



The Aoshima SSR XR-4 were stripped of the chrome, added Hobby Design valve stems, painted with Alclad Aluminium, given a wash of thinned Tamiya Clear Smoke and weathered with Tamiya Weathering Set D.

Removed the radio, also been working on trimming the pedals down to fit some MCG photoetch pedals on them.





Painted the calipers close to the Project M colors, need to paint the brake pads next.

Got some parts painted and others prepped

Pedals done and lightly sanded for a worn look



Dash and steering column painted

Got the chassis in Tamiya TS-11 Maroon

Getting work done on this, sprayed the chassis with Model Master Aircraft Interior Black. Oil pan, driveshaft and bell housing paint Model Master Semi-Gloss Black.



Gauges are analog instead of the digital set, Option and Best Motoring decals on the passenger side.

Chassis is about finished, needs the panhard and anti-sway bars on the underside with a bit more for the engine bay.

Strut bar painted Alclad aluminium and Tamiya Met. Blue.

Added full split in the rear seat and between the seat and package tray.





Working on adding the hose from the radiator to the overflow tank.

Got both bumpers painted, turn signals installed



Pedals are in, needs a light touch up to match the weathering



Tinting the headlights and fog lamps with Future and food coloring

I've never seen that method for doing the turn signal lights. They look great.
