97 Sub not starting after intake

I had the famous intake gasket leak on the 5.7
So tore it down and replaced with fel pro perm dry set along with a new water pump,hoses,tstat,cap & rotor while into it.

I did mark distrib before taking it out but the crank got turned
So put #1 on TDC and aligned rotor dimple to paint and rotor pointing to 8, put distrib back on paint lines that I marked to intake on removal.

But she wont fire up, it will turn over and pop a few times every now and then. rechecked wires,plugs,vac lines many times...

No codes show up on the code reader, I don't have a scanner.
Any ideas as to my next step???

Also would a scanner like the actron cp9580 help/read sensors without engine running?
