So before I bought my 1996 BMW 740IL with 114,000 the only feedback I could find on the web was negative - I have had her for three weeks now and I have to say I am super happy. Can anyone advise me on preventatives that I may want to take to maintain my happiness? Also any tips on checking suspension would be much appreciated - oh one last thing my ac compressor kicks on practically all the time - is this just a low freon issue? Thanks in advance - happy motoring.

Hey there,
Have a 96 I bought with 62k and am also very happy. They are great machines. Don't know if you have all the papers but make sure that it's at least had the Inspection 2 (at 80k) and everything else is up to snuff. ONLY go to BMW dealers or specialists that are recommended to you. The only consistent problem on all of them is the same-Handle the cup holder with care-it WILL break and then you're hosed. Impossible to fix and a bunch of money to take off the whole front. Keep it fully maintained and she'll go forever. Enjoy and good motoring! |
