Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

thanks for all of the comments guys. i got my resin parts from bestresin.com if you are in the market for some parts check these guys out. they are the only place licensed by johan to reproduce their kit parts. they have a wide variety of stuff. lots of stock type peices as well. i got lots of air filters @ 2/$1 lol. some msd boxes, radiators, some halibrand wheels, and a richmond 6 speed. the tooling is quite nice. now all i need is my lenco from top end minatures which should be here by saturday, and im good to go.

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

The engine is fantastic.... here are a couple of very friendly critics...please don't hate me:

1. The plug wires seem to be a bit out-of-scale. I know racing wries are generally thicker then street wires, but the ones you are using look more like hoses...

2. Interior is nice...seems a bit rough. the dash panel is definately unfinished and becuase it is such a promienent piece you want to glue it on straight. The guages seem tiny for a pro mod car. Remember that the driver has to see these guages and rely on them, so they are quite prominent on the 1:1 vehicles.

3. The body is awesome! no critics!

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

thank you slk. i enjoy criticisms like that. i hadn't noticed that my dash went crooked until you mentioned it. i think it happend when i was mocking up the cage. the dash wasnt' quite "set" yet and when it did, the cage had pulled that end down. i might give it another go. as for the plug wire. by the time i made it that far into the build, my budget was getting pretty thin. so i merely used the red and black wire from a phone cord. as for them looking out of scale. they seemed about right when i was doing it. lol. they left a little less than a MM all the way around the hole in the valve cover. thanks for hte comments on the body. the pictures definately do not do it justice. i will be doing a little research before i do the final shoot on this car to make sure the pics do it justice. the paint is so shiny, i havn't even polished it yet. lol.

visible the dimension there is: ....well i was going to measure it right quick but i seem to have misplaced my ruler....according to my ruler it is 5/16ths. im not good with conversions. lol

oh, slk what size tubing would you recommend for the guages? and can i print guage faces on regular paper and still have them turn out decent?

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

You want a fairly large size tubbing.. you might try looking at some photos of 1:1 interiors. The most prominent gauge is the RPM gauge (which you have a separate tach for) there is also MPH guages, various oil pressure and temp gauges that are essential in a rig like that.

I appreciate you taking my critics in a good light! I t shows you are a mature modeler willing to learn! Kudos.

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

thanks guys this thing is finally more than 90% done. all that is left is the chute and the rigging, and the hood. and its done. thanks for the help dave. mine has a tach and three "guages" my printer crapped out, it is out of black ink and hte color is getting low. and dell was no help with my A920 on a cross reference for a cartridge to pick up at wal mart and its 50 bucks for the pair through them. so they are simply "guages" with no face, with all the windows in place you can't really tell anyhow. the hood is proving to be a chore. i spent most of yesterday sanding and modifying the hood, and now it is a styrene/putty monster. hopefully the end product is good. expect to see a finished thread by the end of the week....."crosses fingers"

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

I HATE YOU.

As if I wasn't going through withdrawal already!! Then you make me see THIS. You're cruel. I have to build. I'm eyeing the diecasts on my desk...I have white-out and paperclips...

I love it.

I hate you.

Can you solder aluminum? Because i have a TON of welding aluminum rods my boss gave me. And it would be much easier to make a rollcage with than styrene. Damn it.

I want to see this one in person. If there are any of mine you want to see let me know so I can pack 'em up.

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

lol. you might be able to braze the aluminum together. but that would take a torch. i havn't tried the aluminum but have heard that it is very hard. the brass is fairly inexpensive at hobby lobby. you get 4 sticks for 1.99 i beleive what i use is 1/16th

Re: WIP: BHP pro mod 99 mustang

i havn't done much of anything to this in some time, as there isn't much left. all it needs is the hood finished. i got my dzus fasteners yesterday, and started doing the final sanding on the hood. hopefully this thing will be done in the next week or so.
