Well considering that here in NYC its always some damn construction going on, I would say its more dusty than dirty. But since its a white colored vehicle it sure picks up dirt as well. Hmmm lets see, out of the month I would say twice to cleaning at a hand car wash. I never really noticed if they reuse the mitts and cleaning rags/cloths. But if memory serves me correctly I did see them use those soft broom type brushes, which upon reflection might not be a good idea on the cars finish.

Summer time I wash it more than winter, In the begining I only did it by hand, took it to a regular car wash only 3 times and after someone suggested not to do that, I then looked around for hand car wash places. Plus with all the aftermarket plastic crap I have on the car (yes I know, rice city) I have no choice but to take it to a self hand car wash unless I do it myself.

But I must say that with the helpful tips and hints this forum provides, especially yours, surely allows the newbie diy detailer (like myself) feel confident in doing the wash/shine themselves without having to worry about messing it up. One day I'll get the nerve to start using the power polishers and wax gadgets. (Funny I never waxed a car in my life, but in time I will).

I'll stop now, I don't want to be accused of hijacking this thread.
So there you go, you ask the question and I am one not to keep quiet.

I'll add just a few more words as well, so I'm not in it for hi-jacking either....

Whew....I just picked myself up off the floor..Nooooooooooo..Not the brushes....booohoooohooooo!

But..Since your car is white..you won't see much of what harm they MAY be doing!

Ts...try some Mother's or Meguiar's Instant/Quick Detailer and a couple of good M/F's. After you have had it washed, you could use this stuff in about 15 minutes or less on the "dusty days" and have a "just like it's been washed look and better". Save you some money as well! I touch up my car on all the days except the ones with rain! Told you...ANAL!!!!

Damn it, I was afraid you will say that. Come to think of it, all the hand car wash places I've seen use them as well. I guess I am going to have to go back to hand washing it myself. Drat, there goes half a day on weekends. (if you see in the news a frozen man next to a frozen car, thats me).

Okay back on topic...
I was going over the link on detailing a few posts back and noticed that there is a better link with pictures. The before and after shots are really impressive.
http://www.ocdetails.com/html/detailing_guide.html I love that engine and hood pics. Quite impressive.
