Re: Audi R8 Ultra (Studio 27)

Thank you for your nice words!

Before preparing the body, I corrected some problems with the headlight buckets and rear air fins.

After doing a test fit, there are very large gaps between the headlight buckets and the body. I had to fill the gaps with Tamiya´s light curing putty (I just love that stuff, you can fill and sand in just a few minutes):

I separated Studio27´s rear fins to obtain a more realistic detail:

I used Scale Production´s Audi R8 GT3 rear window instead of the included window (much better detail). I checked the window fit at this moment:

Now, on to the body! Studio27 did a great job with the body. The detail and proportions look good. I only needed to work a little on the panel lines and sprayed Tamiya´s gray primer as a guide coat:

I corrected some minor imperfections, but in general, the body is very clean and very easy to work with:

I sprayed the body with Tamiya´s white primer. Next time I will show you the body in color! Thanks for watching!

Nice progress.
Glad to read, you're happy with the body! My experience with S27 kits is rather different...

Re: Audi R8 Ultra (Studio 27)

Finally! After changing jobs and moving to a new town, I finally had time to finish my Audi! I hope you are still out there

After some tests I decided to use Tamiya´s Italian Red for the body:

The body decals were more than tricky to apply, and I needed to carefully mask the body using bare metal foil, liquid masking solution and Silly Putty to obtain the closest fit for the decals:

After painting the body I started applying the final details on the model. First, I placed carbon fiber to the area where the doors are supposed to be:

Then, I prepared all the windows:

Time to place all body details in place:

Then, time to finally place the body on the chassis:

To glue the rear wing supports in the right place I prepared a jig with styrene:

So, that´s it! The kit needed a lot of work, but I think it turned out very good at the end. Thank´s for watching!!

Re: Audi R8 Ultra (Studio 27)

Looking good!
First one i've seen build. Being a Studio27 kit, it's certainly not an easy one to build nicely.
You did it!
