Re: Ping & Pong present: Two VERY Red Ferraris

Luckily I know well enough Mr. Pong and mr. Ping to have other decals already in the stash LOL

But not to LOL for the dammn TS13. I want to try it over a 2k: a final light finishing of TS13 would be fantastic but if it etch also the 2k.....

what is those? Napalm? Radioactive wastes? Or worst de-colored Coke?

Re: Ping & Pong present: Two VERY Red Ferraris

Gio, I think this unfortunately isn't problem of TS'13. The same problem appered on the roof of my 612er, but it was painted Gunze Silver Black (or something like that) and clearcoted with the Gunze Super Clear. The problem must be in the plastic. I had to strip all the paint and put a Tamiya putty all over the body. That solved this problem.

Draz

Now I have to search something about those crappy Revell plastic used in latest issues, someone found a solution? I guess I'll post a thread on the common section asking for help.....

Re: Ping & Pong present: Two VERY Red Ferraris

Ouch, what a nightmare. I've had it happen a couple of times, and there are few things more frustrating.

If I had to guess, I'd say that it will take a full stripping and repainting. It looks like the silver was softened, and the metallic elements in it have 'lifted'. The same effect could easily have happened with the red body, but even if the solid color was softened you may not see it- you only see it in the metallic because the metallic bits shifted.

What was the body primed with?

I would of course strip in alcohol. It will definately remove the TS, and if there is some issue with the Revell plastic it's less likely to react with alcohol than DOT.

Hey Gioc, you could try an "used" scangy version with dust, mud and so on. Just to save your job.

What do you think about it?

Re: Ping & Pong present: Two VERY Red Ferraris

I am trying to get this finished before the end of the year since Iwould like to finish at least one Ferrari in 2007 to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the marque.

This has been sitting in a shoe box for nearly a year now I guess.

I started off by putting together the p/e front grille.

Then huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge amounts of masking

All the interior to put down the black trim, the window surrounds and the side windows - 3 days' worth in total. phew!!!

Seat has been detailed with craft ribbon and spare p/e sprue.

Test fit of the interior so far and a mock-up.

New headlight covers.

The kit parts are quite thick and don't sit very well so I tried to see if I could do any better using smash forming technique. Seems to have come out pretty OK and I will probable go with these.

Hopefully I will finish in time (more or less )

Seasons greetings to anyone who drops by

Back to work

It's good to see this again. Excellent job with the window trim and great idea with the headlights. This is one beautiful model.

Looking good! What paint did you use for the window trim and dash, etc? It looks very smooth and very good. Nice!

Re: Ping & Pong present: Two VERY Red Ferraris

Thanks guys

It feels good to be doing her again (oops!) but her sister will still be sitting in her shoe box and will be there for some time yet I fear

I used Vallejo Air Acrylics (my favorite paints)
the mix was:
  • 4 drops of Vallejo thinner nr 061 (in my experience Valejo hates Tamiy thinner and also the Vallejo thinner has some kind of satin varnish properties IMO)
  • 4 drops of Vallejo Black nr 057
  • 1 drop of Black grey nr 056
