Yeah. It sucked when he passed away.

In other news, I had an idea for building some aluminum door panels for my Civic yesterday.... Bought another house in the DFW area, and should have my welder back up and running soon, and plan to get to work on that.

Back working on cars full time, at a different shop. Not to toot my own horn too much, but really starting to realize just how good a technician I am. Feeling like I should have opened my own shop, instead of wasting my time trading the stock market.

Re: SERIOUSLY OT: Calling all chicks! IT'S PART 6!!

I ran up shop here for a few years, but scene got way too toxic, so took a couple years off cars, now I'm back with an EF sedan that probably needs too much work. But I'm 3D printing custom cup holders and stuff for the older cars that never had any. Wish we had this tech 20 years ago. I do miss doing mechanic work some days, but I think I enjoy my computer chair more. ha ha Definitely post some pictures of your door panels when you get them done.

Yeah, I'd never open a shop to do performance/custom work. The real money is in service and maintenance for normal people/cars. About the only nuts I ever run across who want custom, no expense spared work around here are Land Cruiser guys.... We just finished rebuilding an older Land Cruiser motor for a guy. He spent 10k without blinking.

Air-conditioning work is also extremely profitable here in Texas. I've already got 20 hours of a/c work lined up for Monday

Yeah, I agree, custom work is hard. It was fun, but people bitch a lot. Either at the time it takes, the money it costs, or that it's not perfect. Can't ever win.

Lol part of the reason I sold my Jeep was because I didn't want to pay to have the AC fixed. The AC in the Volvo works fine, but feels kinda anemic... but I've read that's just kinda how they are... apparently it just doesn't get that hot in Sweden haha.

Re: SERIOUSLY OT: Calling all chicks! IT'S PART 6!!

Not a lot - 1-2 posts a week. I'm back in the EF game, left for 3-4 years. Now I'm making custom cup holders for all the EF models and branching out into other older cars that need newer creature features they didn't come with.

Re: SERIOUSLY OT: Calling all chicks! IT'S PART 6!!

Wife is finally on board with opening my own shop. Last night I showed her the repair order for the car I just replaced the evaporator core in. By this morning, she was sending me facebook and craigslist links for used/for sale A/C machines ... still have to decide on a corporate name, before I start taking on side work.

Also... my back yard is covered in poison ivy... who wants to come help me destroy it all?
