I have a '92 Park Avenue- automatic- V6.
I took my car to a Buick dealer today to find out why I didn't have any A/C or heat (in the winter), rear door and trunk would not open with the switches or the Key Fob (remote), radio would BLAST music then turn off and would not come back on for days... ALL of these problems were intermittent until recently, now I do not have either A/C or the heat. Initially, I had to remove the glove box and close one door so that I could get heat, then reverse that in the summer. But again, for the past six months we haven't had either "luxury!" But now, with daily temperatures over 90 plus degrees and very HUMID conditions we have to get this fixed!
So, today, (after explaining all of these issues to the service manager, he told me to bring it in and they "Could diagnose any "wiring issues" and tell us where the problem was and it would only take about 20 minutes to an hour!"
Of course, when i brought it in he claimed he never said that.. anyway, he claimed it was the Blower motor and told me it would be $275." I asked if he guaranteed that would fix the problem and he said, "absolutely."
So after waiting for them to replace the blower motor, which had to be ordered from Auto Parts, he told me that this only fixed the blower motor and that I had A/C now - except it was only coming out of the FLOOR and the DEFROSTER!!!

Then he told me that the bad news was (Really? Where was the good news?) that I needed an A/C HVAC Programmer -- BUT, Buick/GMC stopped making them about ten years ago. Then, they took $288.00 and said "maybe you can get one of them "after market" IF YOU ARE LUCKY!
Well, I actually located one on Ebay, from a reputable person and I'll have it by Friday the 26th...
So, can anyone tell me how I can replace this part. I seems to just be something that will snap into place or perhaps use one or two screws and has an electronic connector. But, do I find it under the car? Or inside the engine? Do I need to remove anything in order to access this? Is it easy to take the old part out and replace it?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.. I work all day in building houses, so I am whipped when I get home normally, but driving 35 miles each way, in this heat is killing me! My wife can't even get in the car to go to the stores it is too hot for her, she has heat allergies and breaks out in rashes.
Good luck to everyone, may your engines always start and get you safely to your destinations!
