Ferrari F2007
My latest complex project.
I will be building the car Kimi Raikkonen won the world championship with in Brazil. It is a Fujimi 1/20 kit with Hobby Design photo etch kit. I will be using a Zero paints combination for the Metallic red colour Ferrari used that year. First pictures of the chassis being put together. I separated the nose structure from the main monocoque and filled the hole for the front suspension partly. ![]() ![]() Some of the photo etch for the front wing and bargeboards ![]() ![]()

Re: Ferrari F2007
Ah 2007, when F1 cars had werid 'flying bridges' 'chimneys' etc, I wonder how they'd look now 7yrs later if they continued with those requlations...
Looking good so far!

Re: Ferrari F2007
da_ashman, I believe the technical terms were "dumbo ears", "Viking horns", "monkey seats" and "moustache wings".
I think they would look good with this year's low noses. Especially the Caterham. Someone should photoshop that. |

Re: Ferrari F2007
I am using Zero paints for this kit. It is a two-part system with basecoat of silver and topcoat of red.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() At this point, I am seriously worried about breaking of one those small winglets or the boomerang wing on the cockpit. This kit is also getting the full carbon fibre treatment. Some of that work in progress. ![]() ![]()

Re: Ferrari F2007
It's Bare-Metal Foil. It is the same stuff as the chrome foil but with a layer of "gold" on top.

Re: Ferrari F2007
Getting closer to finishing this one. I got stuck for a while when I realized the engine cover no longer came close to fitting properly. The bodywork on this kit has little tolerance. Some modifications were needed.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I ended up damaging the carbon fibre decals on the lower bodywork panel when trying to get to fit in to place. It relatively easy to fix with a patch. ![]() The engine cover did not fit partly because it warped slightly and because of interference with the rear suspension and the exhausts being pushed in by the body work. Some trimming was needed. ![]() ![]() The photoetch bargeboard assembly are difficult to assemble and fragile because they are essentially held by thin 90 degree joints. As can be seen, I needed to be creative with my jigs when epoxying the black panel connecting the two bargeoards. ![]()

Re: Ferrari F2007
The Ferrari is done. Satisfied with the result. Only issue I still have is with the engine cover not fitting very well. See the pictures below
