What to do if you want F1-GTR short tail kit from Aoshima

Guys from Aoshima keep saying on their Facebook page, that decision on making of new McLaren F1-GTR short
tail kit will depend on how great sales of their to be released F1-GTR long tail kit are.

So, if you want detailed F1-GTR short tail kit from Aoshima, buy at least one or more (I'm getting 5) of their long
tail kits and if you have Facebook account, go and put your request for short tail kit in.

I can't wait to get their long tail kit in my hands and start building it. Should be release tomorrow in Japan.

We can't help Aoshima. I think they need to sell about 10,000 kits or so for the success. I have preordered one for myself and it is enough. What do we do? Nothing. Just wait and hope.

Order another one But seriously, I'm just basically trying to spread the word and have more people interested and acting.

I have a strong feeling they will sell out this first issue, like the rocket bunny kits did. They know what the hell they are doing. So yes, buy some, then wait for more As much care they put into the tooling and constant correction of this kit to make it perfect, I'm sure they will try to milk as much out of this as they can.

Re: What to do if you want F1-GTR short tail kit from Aoshima

I've had mine on preorder for awhile now along with the detail set. I wish they make a standard street car instead of the short tail race car. I just finished my Fujimi F1 road car and while it looks ok from a few feet away its a fairly disappointing kit overall. I'm still excited to have any F1 regardless its one of my favorite road cars ever.

Aoshima's F1 GTR Long Tail presentation version is going to be a limited release with no immediate plan for reissue because they're preparing for variations that actually raced.
Presentation version includes extra head light covers and roof-top intake, but the race version is expected to have only one type.

I ordered one thru Mac - at Mac's modeling - price was really good
if you're looking for a presentation kit = google Mac's Modeling he's in Arizona - has great service and prices
I'm in if they make a short tail
I bought several of the F1-GTR's from Fujimi and am very disappointed - you get sooooooo much more in the Aoshima kit

I could care less about the long tail. I love the short tail. No room in my stash for (more0 kits I won't build. Hi there Fujimi, warts and all.

Re: What to do if you want F1-GTR short tail kit from Aoshima

Aoshima's tactical error was going full-bore towards the longtail, and releasing the presentation version first.

Their kit is superior, but Fujimi made the best marketing maneuvers and are cornering the market. My favorite F1 is the #24 Gulf car, I'm not waiting on Aoshima for that or the F1 LM homologation special. I have to wonder if Fujimi played the short tail racers close to the chest to see what Aoshima might announce at the hobby show last month?

I'd be happier had Aoshima done the short tail racers first; the F1 LM would have been the perfect presentation car, followed by various liveries, and then the street car. To me the longtail isn't the McLaren F1 that everyone remembers first.

If I were Aoshima I'd be looking at the modern McLarens; the P1 variants, the 650S variants, and the Huracan, before sinking any more $$ into McLaren F1's, unless they've already cut tooling for them...regardless, they won't get the same return had Fujimi not gotten to the finish line quicker.

Re: What to do if you want F1-GTR short tail kit from Aoshima

I totally agree. I wonder what kind of discussion Aoshima had when they had the choice of making the road car, short tail and long tail.

On the other hand, I don't think Fujimi is making well-planned, calculating moves. All the blunders make me think that they are short of staff, talent and dedication, a small group of bored local salaried workers carrying out routine work day in, day out. And the quality and value of the kit largely depend on the skills and knowledge of the outsourced designer, and Fujimi's QA is almost non existent.
And it seems that the entire McLaren F1 project was handled by an underskilled designer. F12 and Veneno kits are fairly good, but McLaren F1 road and long tail kits have too many elementary mistakes. They couldn't have been designed by the same person or the same design firm.

I'll be picking up Fujimi's short tail kits mainly for the decals and some useable parts, but my hunch tells me that it will have the same kind of issues that require extensive modification to make it accurate.
