1997 Silverado Ext Cab Airbag replacement
I was driving down a back road at around 12am and wasn't paying attention and missed a turn, jumping over a sand dune about 30-40ft in the air and came down on the nose of the truck. This blew the airbags and most likely the shocks/suspension. How would I go about replacing the airbags. Can I just get two new airbags or do I have to get a switch module because I don't want to plug in new airbags and they blow up in my face? Also, any ideas on knowing if I need to fix shocks/suspension?

The air bags, air bag control module and the impact sensors will all need to be replaced. With a impact like that, the column may have also collapsed and will need replaced. Would also plan on shocks at the LEAST, probably control arms also. Need to have it inspected by a qualified shop.

Re: 1997 Silverado Ext Cab Airbag replacement
What would the estimated price be for a full vehicle inspection? I definitely need to get it inspected. I just replaced the radiator yesterday along with the lower radiator hose. I have to replace the heater hose today. Thursday i'm towing my truck up to a bigger town to get the transmission rebuilt because it recently quick on me...no reverse or shifting...rolling through town at 35mph hitting 2500RPMs.

Big bucks.
Can be over 2 grand just on SIR stuff. If you have insurance check with your insurance company on trans mission. and air bag and other stuff. Transmission could have been damaged in plung over dune. And ask for estiamate on other stuff and air bags when getting transmission repaired.

Re: 1997 Silverado Ext Cab Airbag replacement
My truck has gone over 7,000 miles since this accident so I don't think anything is extremely serious yet. It has a pull to the right but it always did even before the accident.
