How to remove the Door Chime in our Ventures
Ok this didn't start of being a how to or I would have had more pictures it was an after thought. But if it drives you as nuts as it did me this should be enough to get you through.
I surfed the net and after a few common demominators they all showed different cars but it all led to either a fuse box or an area around the fuse box. I took my glove compartment out exposing all the wires fuses etc... I saw a black box with holes on the cover forming a circle typical of a location with a speaker. I pulled out the box opened it up and sure enough there it was. I clipped the wires going to the speakers then reassembled. Some people removed fuses just to find the same fuse controlled other functions in the car. In my case my wire cut was direct and specific to only the chime speaker for a clean job done well. Total time to wack the speaker from disassembly, identifying, disabling, and reassembly took 25 min.:wavehi: REMOVALE OF THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT ![]() LOCATION OF THE ANNOYING BELL ![]() CLIPPED THE WIRE OF THE SPEAKER UNPLUGGED THE OTHER SIDE FROM THE ELECTRICAL BOARD AND DONE |

I believe that box is the BCM. Word to the wise, be very careful messing around in this box. It controls everything from door locks, dome lights, windows, radio, etc....

Re: How to remove the Door Chime in our Ventures
Anyone who's going to shut off the door chime has NOTHING to be worried about. It's a clean very easy task to do. Four screws removes the glove compartment. a push back latch release the black box (BCM). The blackbox opens easily, then you clip the speaker wire from the speaker itself. The only way to mess this up is if you are retarded, Drunk, or go in with a Chain saw. Anyone who needs addition pictures, Guidance, etc... feel free to ask. When I say it's too easy, I mean Toooooo easy.

Re: How to remove the Door Chime in our Ventures
I was simply pointing out to anyone who doesn't have much mechanical experience that this is not something to go willy nilly poking around in.
I guess I should ask, What's the point in cutting the speaker out anyway? If you're listening to the radio with the key on, can't you roll down the window? |

As for just rolling down the window I'd say sure that's an option if I was working on another area of the car. But I had to work on my driver's side door because of issues with the window not coming up properly. While working on it the chime drove me crazy. Also when I'm cleaning the inside carpet, wiping down the door, etc...On a number of occasions I needed or just wanted the door open. I just don't see the purpose of it anyway. I've never seen a car with the door left open and unattended and I doubt it has anything to do with the chime. |

Re: How to remove the Door Chime in our Ventures
That's another way to skin a cat. Is there a time in the future that you would like to be annoyed by it again? When I looked on-line noone had an answer on where the chime was, or how to shut it off. Some people just don't want it, that simple. I posted a location and one method of doing it. If someone would rather just Unplug it then I suggest putting electrical tape around the end so it doesn't touch the board and short anything else out. I clipped it because I don't plan on selling my Venture nor do I ever plan on being annoyed by the chime in the future.

Re: How to remove the Door Chime in our Ventures
You know maybe adding a switch isn't a bad idea. I bought two keyless remotes and in order to program it the chime indicates that the programming was successful. Since I no longer have a chime I will have to find another way to program my keyless remote. No regrets and no worries though, I'm glad the chime is gone once and for all.
