Re: 91 Honda Accord EX-R(4 Cyl) loses power

I am having the same problem to the letter. I checked the CEL and it came up with 43 (fuel system something failure).

anyone that fixed this problem would be nice to know how.

Thanks

It's Fixed

Replaced:

air filter
spark plugs
EGR valve
plug wires
distributor cap
fuel filter
entire air control box (MAP Sensor included in this one)

None of this fixed the issue. Just to recap the problem, about 10 min. into the drive it would loose all power, spit, sputter, and sometimes would even back fire. it would continue acting up for about 1 min. then like some one flipped a switch it would run fine. 30 min or 3 hours it would run fine but once I shut off the engine it would all happen again. Hot or cold engine, hot or cold weather, rain or shine.

So took it to the local shop and the guy found in his system that 43 CEL was a O2 sensor. I just happened to have one laying around so we swapped it out. I feel like I have about a 10 HP gain and I'm now getting over 30 MPG!!!!! NO MORE SPITTING, SPUTTERING, JERKING, and general ACTING STUPID!!!!

My car is a 1991 Honda Accord EX with F22A1, Manual 5 speed, w/AC I now have 249661 miles on my car and it it runs better then most new POS.

Hope this helps everyone out.
