If it was brand new with less than 10k miles then that is normal. The break-in period is always the worst. It will pick up after that.

And did you go by the DIC? The DIC is actually inaccurate 99% of the time. Hand calculating it will be more accurate.

And how many miles did you travel? in city? highway?

Lol you picked all of the 4WD trucks, dude you're an idiot.

4WD trucks are going to get less than 21 hwy because of the extra drivetrain taxing the engine. It doesn't help any if you have a 4.8L in a Crew cab 4WD, a heavy truck with a weak engine = not good.

The current MPG ratings are actually EPA's doings, the Manufacturer will say it gets 17 city/22 hwy but EPA says the sticker needs to say 19 city/24 hwy.

Other people seem to think I should get 20mph mixed all day long in my regular cab 4.3 GMC truck. Truth is, you don't. Doesn't matter how you drive. I get consistent 17 mpg mixed, it's never seen 20+ mpg. The truck is too damn heavy for any decent mileage. But I'm not complaining being the truck has been good for me.

My aunt's 2010 Tahoe 2wd Gets 24 hwy (it counts since we all live in the middle of nowhere) with the AFM.

There are no AWD Tahoes. The only ones on the platform with AWD are the Escalade ESV and the Yukon Denali. 4WD models exist in both Yukons and Tahoes though.
