hydroboost brakes

I have a 1986 chevy c-30 when you step on the brakes the power steering pump starts to lock up causing the belts to squeal and burn. Also the rear brakes are moving but not engaging very well. What is going on?

Re: hydroboost brakes

Sounds like the Hydro boost unit is going bad, could cause both issues assuming the hoses are not restricted or collapsed.

Re: hydroboost brakes

Also.
Hydro boast puts more load on PS pump and belt when braking or turning.

Make sure ps pump and ps pump belt are good.
Does it have a seperate belt or belts for PS pump?
Can you squeal belt on tight turn?
