Re: Ned's 91 GSX

Well I went to get it tuned hoping that they could resolve my knock issues, the same issues I've been dealing with since day one (literally). They couldn't get it to go away since the problem was probably internal, maybe a bur on the piston or carbon build up or whatever. I've also had a crazy amount of blow by, enough to blow the dipstick out plus approx. 1 quart of oil right out the dipstick hole over the course of a few miles. After the tune, she started smoking. I'm assuming piston rings, valve seals, or turbo seals. All of which would cost more money then I have. I was going to deal with that and just take it easy until I had enough to tear the motor down and do it all RIGHT. So I was driving home that last day and the car wouldn't start at work, I was like WTF?!? I've had problems in the past w/ my fuel pump rewire relay so I went straight to that. Some wiggling of the wires and she started right up. Started to drive home and stopped for gas and she wouldn't start again. Bypassed the relay and got it home. She was knocking like a bastard all the way home so I called my wife to open the garage for me so I could pull it into it's final resting spot. Then I started thinking about selling it or parting it out. But for what I would sell it for was nauseating. I wouldn't have gotten more than $1500 with the problems I've been having. I figured up what I would get out of a part out and it just made more sense. So far with my part out, I've made back $2600 so far. And there's still a lot left.
There are times that I regret my choice. Like on a nice day or when I see a retarded looking cavalier or that douche bag Saab boy driving around that makes me want to OWN THE SHIT OUT OF THEM.
The worst part of my car was that I began to put it before my family. I spent more time on that car then I have with my 2 girls. I put my kids on the back burner when they should have been my top priority. I spend more time with them now more than ever and it's great. My wife's happy to have more attention that's for sure. And my mountain of bs debt has diminished substantially, since I now have the money to pay some off.
So there's my reason(s). Everyone I've told of my part out weather it was on here, other forums, or in my personal life, can't believe it. I spent so much time, money, patience, sweat, blood and for what....nothing. An experience is all...more like a life lesson. Hobbies will do that I guess. It's over and we'll see what happens next.
Here's good bye to my sexy 1G "dos bitch"

Thumbs up Re: Ned's 91 GSX

Glad you got everything together and that you're at least making some money back from the car. Debt sucks, so get that taken care of. It really does sound like you got your priorities straight and I'm personally glad to see that. We're at that age now where some hobbies just can't be kept around. Especially when it comes to having a family.

The car looked great in the end and it sounds like you had your fun with it. Again, hate to see it go... but who knows, you may be back in the game alittle later on.

Thread is locked per request of Ned. If you would like to add anything at another time, just let any of the mods know and we'll unlock it for you.
