another 95 neon problem...

I'm an old B body mopar guy tryin to set my 17 yr old up with transportation. Got the car in return for some welding. Formerly an AT&T vehicle, maintained to a T.! After replacing both rear brake lines, alternator, belts, tires, it ran beautifully, right frt brake dragging a little bit, no codes, stops nice, BUT after about 15 mins, the damn thing acts like its running outta gas and dies.... Wait a 1/2 hr. starts right up, runs 15 mins. same thing... bad fuel? fuel filter? sending unit?

bad fuel pump maybe run fuel pressure check after it dies to confirm

Okay, checked pressure, 45+ psi ,starts great, I can hear the pump prime up, runs great, no codes, idles fine for 15 mins, and instantly shuts down, like a relay trips, No sputter, nothing. dies. Shows no codes at all. Doesn't restart at all. fuel pressure at 45 psi. Turns over fine. I know if I wait 20 mins. or so it will start up and the same results will follow. ANY INPUT OR TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! I have Twin 17 yr. old boys beating the hell out of thier mothers new cobalt! HELP!

bought a coilpack tonite, put it on ...no change. read up on it a little and found that the car WILL NOT start if the crankshaft position sensor isnt getting correct voltage. Mine starts no problem. It reaches a certain engine temp and shuts down. No dash codes show up or on my pocket scanner either... Can the fuel pump actually overheat?

yes but if you have fuel pressure when the engine dies the fuel pump is not the problem
crank sensor might act up when it gets hot see if you have spark when it dies to send you in the right direction

Problem solved..after replacing the crankshaft position sensor I have no more stalling, smooth revving and idling. check engine light is on, code 37, I think the torque converter curcuit plug isnt in all the way. I had to pull the harness section down to change over the crank sensor plug. new sensor was different. the wires were a little bit melted also where the sensor wires come outta the harness, so I pulled em open and shrink taped em. 1 other thing...Dont be afraid to use the online techs, these guys have seen it all. For $13.00 Chrysler tech Dave Dill solved my problem, and 2 others at 10:00 pm ON THANKSGIVING. Instant response time too. thanks 4 all suggestions...
