engine trouble
My 99 tahoe is having a hard time when cold. It will stutter all over from a dead stop. I can always accelerate past this but when I come to a dead stop it starts all over again for about 5-10 minutes then all back to normal. Two questions: no codes showing up, could this be a o2 sensor problem or MAF problem? If so, how do you know what sensor is bad? My intake may be leaking also, could this cause an engine problem like this? Thank you for input.

Re: engine trouble
Can you monitor live data while this is happening?
I would monitor things like coolant temp sensor and O2 data to get a better idea of what going on.

no dtc codes could be a low fuel pressure..if the O2 sensor was bad you will get codes...what engine is in it???old 5.7 or the 5.3... if the 5.7 could be distributor/ignition issues.. |

Re: engine trouble
I have the 5.7, I've had this problem before, but thought I got something wet driving in puddles. I thought I had this problem solved but I guess not. One of the ears on my distributor itself is broken. I put some sillicone on there as well as the old zip tie to keep it secure but maybe not good enough? I was hoping to avoid changing the distributor for a broken ear though. But what would cause this problem to go away after driving a few miles? Would this not be present all the time? I'm not a gear head, just a guy trying to find some answers. thanks all.

this setup also may need new wires,,,measure the wire resistance and if its too high get new wires,,,measure new wires compare with old to confirm this....then replace plugs if these items are bad as the plugs get damaged by poor ignition spark.. |
