Re: where is the knock sensor
it definately worked.
you can feel the increase in power during acceleration its not massive but its a free power upgrade. there was also an increase of MPG, i saw a definate increase of 30-40 miles per tank of gas. negative side effects - possibly more cold engine idle knock.... it sounds like the knock is louder when starting my car up in the morning. fix? hook the knock sensor up to a toggle switch maybe ? i always use Super Unleaded (with ethanol) since i'm in Iowa. here in iowa 'regular' is more expensive than the super unleaded w/ ethanol. and regular is lower octane also. but the last couple of tanks i used premium just to see if there was a difference. and there was a slight difference in horse power. BUT there was a large difference in Engine Temperature, which is to be expected when using higher octane gas. overall, i think over time there could be a negative effect by unplugging the sensor because of increased cold engine knock but it could be just my motor too ???? |
