Re: Tranny Vibration???

You may be missing a torque converter bolt, you may have a broken or cracked flexplate, or you may have a weight missing on the torque converter.

That's where I'd center my investigation.

Re: Tranny Vibration???

Deffo something torque convertor related. Also check both motor mounts and the transmission mount while you're down and dirty.

Re: Tranny Vibration???

would a torque converter off of a TH350 work on a TH350c? I know it wont have the lockup capabilities but will it fix the vibration problem?

Re: Tranny Vibration???

Not the way to do this, plus I think the input shafts are different, some will jump here and confirm this.

Re: Tranny Vibration???

Is this vibration while sitting still or while rolling? I had a problem once with universal joints. They gave me a vibration with different driveline loads and at diffirent speeds until they failed.

I ran a lockup converter on a non-lockup TH350 for a year before the converter failed. This was in 1998 when I flipped burgers for a living and couldn't afford a proper replacement unit. It can be done, but don't expect longevity out of it.

Bad u-joints usually can be heard before they cause trouble. At low speeds they give off a chirping sound. A visual examination will show signs of rust coming out of the caps, meaning that the grease seal has failed and water is getting in.

Re: Tranny Vibration???

Guys according to the OP this thing vibrates in neutral, not the U' joints in that case.

My money is still on the torque converter, flex plate, or internal engine balancing. Probably not the latter, if this came on suddenly.

Thanks. My friend gave me a 700R4 yesterday and I was wandering if I am going to switch crossmembers or If I can keep the same one on my truck?
