car acting wierd....

well, i was driving my car earlier and it seemed to bogg down when i would speed up from low rpm's/complete stops...when i give it a little more gas the rpm's jump up to around 6000 and my car doesnt respond like it should, just sort of bogg down...to make matters worse, as soon as i pulled into my driveway it started making a wierd sort of ticking noise( almost sounding like a pulley/belt??) any ideas on whats wrong?
