Um is this normal?
Can a stock 5th gen sedan chirp its tires into third gear? I know it sounds weird but well I just did... and I repeated it several times just to make sure I wasnt hearing things. The first thing I noticed when I started driving it was that the clutch pedle felt nothing like my CX one -- the CX seemed very loose, and I had to back off the clutch almost to the stationary position for the clutch to kick the car into gear -- and the sedan, even when I first started driving it was totally differant. I push the peddle all the way to the floor and I start to back off... and before the peddle is even 1/2 way back it connects.
I also noticed on the way home that its a hell of alot tighter then the CX was... like when I put it in gear, it feels like its actually in gear and its not loose like the CX was... I know the CX clutch was on its way out -- but still, its a world of differance. So back to my story... so I was driving over to my moms and im on a long stretch of road that no one except me goes down it seams... so im like, alright lets see what we can do. I stop in the middle of the road, give it some gas, and let go of the clutch -- and it chirps first... hearing this kinda was like... woohoo! So I gave it more gas on the way to second and again, chirped the tires... knowing that what was next would be impossible I stayed heavy on the gas... shifted, and low and behold I chirped into 3rd!!! Now, am I correct in the assumption that a stock clutch wouldnt be able to do this? The first day I got the car home, I was looking at the motor and stuff... what do I see? New timing belt, new radiator, new oxygen sensor and a few more goodies... adding all those things up -- then the fact that the car USED to have an amp and sub in it leading me to think the car was owned by a teenager at one point makes me wonder if for some reason I might have some sort of stage 1 clutch? I mean -- what do you all think? I know im not crazy I know what I heard... anyone got any ideas?

I think that all clutches are different You can have 2 cars from the same year and the clutch will still feel different, especially since it's a used car depending on who had driven it in the past. On occasions, when I had my 97 EX coupe I could chirp going into 3rd and I had a stock clutch.

If you revved it up high enough and the clutch was "grippy" enough then yeah it's possible. BTW May I remind you the CX had 100,000,000 miles on it. I'm sure this has less and it better taken care of. BUt if you do in fact have a high perf clutch, I'd make sure the shock on the drivetrain isn't so high that your axles or CV joints don't turn to mush too soon.

i always used to chirp in thirld gear on my 92 si hatch (same engine) the clutch was stock and so was the engine its not imposible, i alway used to hold down the gas when i shifted to get the most out of my shift, if you can drop the cluth fast enough you can kinda get the wheels to loose tractio in fourth for a like a millisecond

Why would chirping your tires make any difference in the world? It doesn't make the car faster, doesn't make you look like a smooth shifter, doesn't make the car look cooler. Why?

The Ex are and Dx also have two different engines.
Regardless of what it can do, I still say you need to drop in a supercharged Hemi
