Cheap source for acrylic lacquer primer?

Does anyone know of a good acrylic lacquer primer (like Tamiya's) from an automotive store or Wal Mart? Most of the stuff I've run into were enamels...

I appreciate any input. Thanks!

Have you looked at Zinser, it's available from Lowes.

The keyword for most primers is "sandable"; those are generally lacquers and easiest to work with. Most people prefer Plastikote; it's not as easy to find as Duplicolor, and most people find it easier to use than Duplicolor. You can get Plastikote at Michael's arts/crafts/hobbies stores, or use Plastikote's website to find a local store.

Zinsser B-I-N is good as a primer/sealer (sands beautifully), but it needs to be applied over at least a light coat of lacquer primer as it doesn't adhere well to bare plastic, but does to other paint.

If you guess also trough airbrush I'm still using with a lot of satisfaction just a Lecher acrilic as a primer: is the cheapest they sell (17 eur-21 $) and can be thinned with a polystirene-safe thinner: I choose those from a Lecher chart, and it is the only solution allowed on polystirene. They can mix any (pastel) color you want so I coose a white and ask if they put a bit of black in 1/2 Kg.

At least I have 1/2 Kg of grey and half of white. It's not really easy to spray trough airbrush, it's done for bigger spray gun, but is pretty good: cure in few minutes, is super-sandable, and have a good coverage. Plus is extremely cheap due that you need a lot of thinner: also until 70% thinner or more.

Sometim I'm lazy and can't rexist to use a ready Tamy can, BTW is my preferred one, speacking of quality, better than Tamiya, after cure ithe surface is pretty smooth, without any OP area.

In my 575 and China's scangi threads I guess you'll see how I use it.
