Question I've read every thread on here!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!

The car is in park and before it is even put in drive it goes up from 1RPM to 2RPMs and then shuts off and the oil can light and the battery light comes on. Then I turn the car on again and wait about 2 minutes in park and the same thing happens again. I have oil, I checked. Also I have symptoms of the speed sensor being shot. Any suggestions will be helpful. Are these things related? The car is a 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme 3.1

Have you made sure the wiring connector on the front of the transmission is secure?

EDIT: Are you still in park when it dies?

Yes it's still in park. Now I took it to the mechanic and he can't even hook it up to the machine because there's no connection? what's up with that? It's something electrical. I hate that I don't know this stuff!!!!!!!!!!

Re: I've read every thread on here!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!

You mean the mechanic can't find the ALDL connector? Take it somewhere else...BTW, the oil and battery light are supposed to come on when it dies. There is no oil pressure or alt. charging when the engine is off..

EDIT: You need to verify whether the fuel is being cut off, or the ignition. As soon as it dies, immediately turn off the ignition, and insert something into the schrader valve(fuel pres. test port) and note if a LOT of fuel comes out(watch your EYES!). If so, more than likely the engine is receiving fuel. You could partially remove a spark plug wire from the coil enough to hear a spark, then wait for it to die. If the spark immediately quits when the engine begins to die, it could be spark related. The problem could be a bad crank/cam sensor,(might explain RPM change before it dies) ignition module, ICM...etc.. You really need to get those codes scanned..by someone competent in FI engines..

Re: I've read every thread on here!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!

I had a 1990 doing the same thing is was strange sometimes I would lose fuel injectors and sometimes I would lose spark i have cincudles it was a wiring problem. I have been so frustrated over it I have decided to scrap the car out. Hope you have better luck than I did.
