Key getting stuck in the on position 91 s-10

I recently put in a new long block and when we got it put back together the key will get stuck in the on position. I can turn it back. Is there a picture some where of the tranmission where the shifter is connected to it? I think the sping assemble was put on wrong and it thinks it is on gear.

91 s-10 4.3 v6 157k

Thanks

Apparantly the key will get stuck in that position on some S10's with a dead battery, so try giving it a jump before you try anything else.

The ignition cylinder might be going bad, mine did the same crap, replaced the cylinder and works just fine.
