I have an 87 linc TC.. And when i drive with the front windows down i can smell gas... I have no idea where the smell is coming from.. I've had this car for about 6 years and it has always been this way.. I now have the funds/time to fix my baby up..

Re: Gasoline smell while driving

Hello

Can you see any fuel leaking any where, Or is it just the smell you notice? On my 78 Ford van if I top off the tank I get the same strong fuel smell. I replaced the tank several years ago and it must not have sealed that well at the top by the sending unit. I just need to be careful not to top off the tank. Do you have the smell all the time or just when the tank is full?

Mike

Ya, common problem is a broken seal on the top of the tank. You can check around there, and replace the gasket
