|
lowering springs????
hows it goin everyone. heres my problem. i have a set of lowering springs, they are eibachs. i've heard that when you put on springs you can do some damage to the struts over time. is this true? and another thing, does anyone know where to go to get the springs put on. i really dont feel like doin it myself. thanks for any advice.

Eibach spring are progressive (soft at ride height, get harder when pushed down). Because they set 1.5" lower than stock the harder part of the spring has to be much harder than stock to keep from bottoming out all the time. This tends to wear out stock struts really fast. Also, stock struts don't have enough resistance in them to slow the rebound of a fully compressed spring, causing a bouncy ride and poor handling. It is suggested to use Koni adjustable struts when you use Eibach springs. The problem you will find is that when you get them adjusted with enough rebound to control the spring, the ride will be harsh and weight transfer will be poor. This will affect sudden hard breaking (front will want to slide at first) and will lesson your grip on wet pavement considerably. There are better springs out there if you want great handling. Eibachs are more for looks than handling on Neons.
MP makes a high rate spring for AutoX that lowers by 1" and is a linear rate spring. This is what the racers use to win races. PS- 17" wheels on Neons are also counter-productive. SCCA racers use 15x7" wheels (on classes that allow non-stock sizes) on Non-Turbo Neons. |

Mopar High rates are great springs. I would think any suspension shop could put springs on for you.
