91 calais low heater output

My blower motor is working, I've got a small amount of hot air coming out of the dash vents and the defroster vents.. However, when I adjust the controls, nothing changes. I can hear the blower motor increasing and decreasing but the amount of warm air coming through the vents stays the same. Also, switching from defrost to heater or AC makes no difference either. Any help would be appreciated. It's cold up here! Thanks

Check the car for a vacuum leak. The vents are controlled by vacuum and if the line breaks it won't work properly. You may also want to check the vacuum control module under the dash that opens and closes the vents. This can go bad too.

Re: 91 calais low heater output

GTP DAD Thanks! I found a vaccum hose that had a break and replaced it and the heater works great now. The engine even smoothed out and it really runs great. I'll bet that even fixes the cruise control that hasn't worked since I bought the car. I'll find out tomorrow. This car runs good and has about 109,000 miles on it. It needs body work and paint, is it worth putting some money into? I've read a lot about the 2.5's having head gasket problems and other issues. What do you guys think? Thanks again!

The 2.5 isn't called the iron duke for no reason. It is very reliable and will last for many years. Just make sure to keep it cooled properly and keep good oil in the engine and it should last for many years. The major cause of failure in this engine is overheating causing the head gasket to go bad.
