If he buys the type sh yeah it will be close. It will really depend on the driver. If he goes and gets the base model them you sould be ok

Re: 2000 eclipse GT vs. 1998 Honda Prelude

hes probaly will beat you but hes not going to smoke you. I raced a prelude when my car was stock and he ad cai headers exhaust pullys and carbon fiber hood and he smoked me pretty bad. But things would be different now

Re: 2000 eclipse GT vs. 1998 Honda Prelude

sorry, but your going to get stomped, the sporty eclipses are not very fast, and aregood for mid-16's or higher stock

the prelude is good for mid-low 15's if he can kinda drive

also, the prelude has about 60 less ft.lbs than an eclipse...and it takes longer for it to et that torque, that'll be the only thing that saves you if he decides to miss a gear

i ran one w/ my intake from a roll, he got a head start, but we were entirely even the rest of the time

mine is a 5 speed, and i walk sporties all day long

The base model prelude is actually quicker in a straight line than the SH model. The SH has extra weight on it due to the better suspension. The SH will outhandle a base model but the base would beat an SH in a drag race.

Re: 2000 eclipse GT vs. 1998 Honda Prelude

it doesn't matter whether its type sh or not, both have the same specs. the sh only matters on auto-x. the prelude can run a 15.3 with a good driver in it, trust me, i used to own one and now i own an eclipse gts. haven't taken the eclipse to the track yet tho. in the end, its a drivers race. and you being an automatic gives you a very severe disadvantage, preludes have excellent manual transmissions with a sick 3rd and nice hard clutches.
