old chapman alarm

hello all, i have an 85 olds cutlass ciera. it has one of those old key type alarm systems. it says chapman, nothing else just chapman. you need a key to disarm/arm it. i have the key however the alarm still seems to be affecting the car power distribution. it was running fine except for the fact that it needed a new battery. i replaced the battery, and now there is no power going through the car it self. someone told me that these alarm systems had a lock out feature. is there a safe way of just clipping the wiring to the alarm itself and just forget about it. please help. thanks.

Re: old chapman alarm

Track the wires down ,usually spliced into the wires off the ign switch and reconnect every back to stock.
