New Problem to me that I can't answers to.

I tried and tried to find a forum to read that has my same problem, but I can't.

Here goes.

1997 Blazer 4DR 4WD

All of a sudden my truck won't start. Gas pressure is ok, it's not catching. Now here's the crazy part.

My lights, Wiper, Radio, all work fine, but when I try to turn it over, my dash lights don't light up and I can't even get the truck in gear to get it towed. I'm at my wits in. I think the truck knows it's about to be traded in, in a few days.

It's not the fuses, Oil Presure is fine, hell it happened after I got an oil change. It would not start while at Rapid Oil. We looked at it and were all baffled. All of a sudden I got power and I sped home. I have mot been able to start it since.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

97's are notorious for bad ignition switches. Sounds like it might be the problem.

Sorry guys, I have to throw this in. When was the last time you cleaned your battery connections? Is your Battery putting out 12 volts?

I would tend to agree with the ignition switch, but the no light situation also leads me to believe it could be a loose connection at the battery or the ground at the block...

The go/no go situation definately points to the Ignition switch.

Check to see if you have voltage at the top of fuse #24 (tranny fuse).
If you do, it's a bad EEM. If you don't, it's a bad switch.

I recently had the same problem, and replaced the switch for a second time. But the no start/no spark/engine cranks/gauges pegged 1/4 beyond max persisted.
It ended up being a bad EEM ($600.00 charge).

Hey guys, thanks for the tip. I will be trying to replace the Switch tonight. Since I can't get it in gear, I have to try and install it myself. Is this an easy task?

Now I hope it's not the EEM, but I checked all the fuses and they all were ok.
