I've been doing my reasearch on here. and have lot's of help on different problems!! Thank you all for the great Help!! Now new problem. About a year ago my Service Engine Soon like came on then my Trans started slipping. Sister suggested putting Lucas in my fluid till I could get it flushed. very expesive at the time for me. Ran great till about 2 weeks ago. same thing happened so put more lucas in my fluid. Till today Service engine soon light came on and trans started slipping. So I did my research again and read about the codes and was going to be prepared when I took it to the shop. Didn't want them knowing that I had absolutly no Idea what the problem was so when he tested it , it came up with a code P0122. Was ready for a p1870 but not this code. I was thrown for a loop. Would this cause my trans to slip . and What is the cost for this?? I just need some help So that I don't get taken advantage of . What should I do?

That doesn't sound right. The P0122 is the Throttle Position Sensor Circuit Low Voltage. Are you sure that was the error code they came up with?

97 Blazer - slipping tranny, random/weird engine codes that light the SES...
Search for 97+Blazer+Ignition switch in this forum. Seriously, a lot of oddball stuff starts wigging out the truck and the owner it almost always leads back to a dying ignition switch. |

Re: Trans Problem. 97 Blazer Need solid advice
did you ever service your tranny with fresh fluid and filter?
I'd say ignition switch too except that you had it done recently. Quote:

Re: Trans Problem. 97 Blazer Need solid advice
When was the last time your transmission was flushed out and a new filter installed? How many miles are on the truck?

actually, the tps sensor can cause the vehicled to act as if the tranny was slipping. past experience with this sensor tells me that when you step on the gas the car barely accellerates until it randomly takes off, making the impression that the tranny slipped. I suggest you invest the $ for the sensor. it should be less than a 100 bucks, but if you install it yourself and the code still comes on take it in to get the sensor adjusted because somtimes the voltage can be off.

If the TPS is sending an incorrect signal, the trans points could be off and cause a slip condition. The 1870 code is most likey related to a sticking TCC or shift valve. Since these are the only codes you have, I wouldn't worry to much about the ignition switch.

My blazer has 120000 miles, havent had a trans flush or filter change. that i know of. bought it used. But when I took it to valvoline to have a flush done . he told me not to that it might make the slipping worse. and the trans might go out. So Should I go ahead and do a flush and filter change? and take it to a transmission place to do that ?

Re: Trans Problem. 97 Blazer Need solid advice
I would change the filter and replace the fluid that's lost (about 5 quarts) with new and skip the flush. You need to address the issue with the TPS, as well. It is most likely the cause of your problems.
