Negative effects of modifications

I just bought a '05 Mazda 6 (4-Banger) and am considering installing cold air intake, chip, etc. What are the negative effects on the engine and car, if any? How about warranty service, do I have to remove these things before bringing it in to the shop for warranty service? Will the technician be able to see what I have been doing even if I do remove?

The deal with the warranty is that u can basically do what you want with the engine. The only thing with this is that if you have trouble with your engine or anything else, Mazda can blame it directly on the modifications on the engine and therefore void the warranty. So basically what they are saying is do what you like to it, but if anything goes wrong you void your warranty.

I own a 2004 Mazda 6s with standard transmission which I absolutely love. I want to add some more horses but am not familiar with bolt on accessories and what will give me the best bang for my bucks. where should I start? I'm willing to spend up to $1,000 to start with and need some advice on what to get. Any comments appreciated. Thanks!

If i were to begin with a bankroll of $1500 or so, i'd begin with the dual cat-back magnaflow exhaust system for the Mazda 6, and the Injen Cool air intake....together this could put you up a good 35-40 horses or so....you may be able to pull those items off with a bank of $1000

Cool, that sounds like what I'm looking for. Do you think that will that require any mods to the ECU to aviod a "check engine" scenario? Also, do you think the exhaust will sound throaty and nice with the V6? I don't want to make it sound like a whiny little cheap import. THanks for the advice.

Im not really possitive if you will need to make any adjustments to the ECU after installation but it sounds very good. You will definitely enjoy it.

unfortunately, i just installed my Injen RD Series CAI and the engine light is on....there is no way to prevent this due to the solonoid attached to the stock airbox. I am lookin for a way to remove the fuse for the solonoid so there is no longer the engine light. Although the engine light is on, the intake is not causing any damage. It is basically like an incomplete ciruit that is looking to be completed, but cant. If i hear any news about the fuse situation i will be sure to inform you.

I think the CP-E MAF Customizer is the fix to this problem for the Injen intakes. Check out this website for info.

The cpe customizer is definitely the way to go if you have the $250 buks to spare and no warranties to worry about. Unfortunately warranties are my largest problem so the customizer is out of the picture for a little while. About 7 more years or so.LoL

Not true , the exhaust flow change won't create that much increase , With the r-active exhaust and a injen cold air intake , you may be looking up to 25 hp at the crank and about 12 - 15 at the wheels.

R-active = better than anything you can put together.
