01 Celica GT-S vs. 00 Prelude

This was a race with a guy I know.. he got his Prelude a few months ago and I've been wanting to race him to see how close it would be. His mods are: i/h/e and I think he said he has an ACT clutch. My Celica is stock, full interior.

We raced twice from a stop. Both times I got a slightly better launch and had a bumper on him, landed lift in second and pulled a couple feet and stayed there all the way up to 8400rpms. Shifted to third and started pulling away. We shut down at around 80mph. Both runs I won by about a car length.

That is all.

It wasn't an SH. It was the base model.. the SH is a little heavier anyway.

2000 Prelude (base)
200hp
156tq
2954lbs

Yeah, this new tranny with the wider shift gates is killing me. I'm just now getting the hang of it.

Nice kill.

Judging from your times and the fact that you beat a modded car that performs about equally stock for stock with your Celica, you must be a really good driver.

Nice. fair kill.
have u raced an SH btw?, those are heavier but yes faster. I've raced those before they are pretty quick.
I have a 97 GS-T fully stock =(, and i raced a fully stock Lude SH.
he got me good on stop light runs, but on the freeway, I got him good,
once that turbo spooled up the lude was falling behind slowly. topped out at 138mph, it was a good race, considering that we are stock.

nice 1/4 times what mods do u have? i/h/e? the basics?.

Re: 01 Celica GT-S vs. 00 Prelude

If anything, an SH Prelude would be slightly slower than a base model because of the weight. The only real difference between the two is that the SH has a torque transfer system that enables it to corner sharper. In a street race, this would not give the SH an advantage over the base model.

It was a really good race.. I had to drive pretty much a perfect run to come out as far ahead as I did. If I would have landed out of lift on 2nd gear he would have beaten me.
