1999 323i Crack in Windshield - Replace or Repair?

A rock hit my windshield over the weekend right near the rear view mirror. I didn't notice the star at all, and overnight, it apparently became a 3-4 inch crack straight down.

Dealerships are looking to charge me 600 - 1000 to fix it. I have other quotes from auto glass places looking to charge me 60 to repair it, whereas other places say its too late to repair. One place wants to charge 325 to fix it.

Does it matter who I bring it to to fix the windshield?

Last fall i hit a deer with my 325ci and along with the bumper and hood i had to fix my windshield also i took my elsewhere the dealership was far to highly priced find a good repair shop and take it there they both get there parts from the same supplier so as long as the know what they are doing the repair or replacement shouldnt be a problem

If you cant repair it and you dont wana spend the moeny to raplace it a really simple idea is to fill the crack with super glue. You will most likely see the glue but it might stop or slow down the crack.
