Question Electrical Problem? Any thoughts?

Hi All. Yes, I am a newbie here. I just discovered this site today and am quite impressed. I am a woman but actually am an estimator for any insurance company so I understand vehicles more that the average girl, but I still don't know much about the mechanics beyond the cooling systems and what not.

I drive a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Se 4 cyl engine - pretty basic vehicle.
My problem is this. Earlier this week I turned off my vehicle and my speakers sort of popped. I did not think anything of it until I got out of my vehicle and my remote car lock button would not lock the doors (it usually makes a little honk noise), so I went back to te vehicle and attempted to lock the doors using the interior button and they would not work. So, I turned the vehicle back on and then off again, and they worked. I also noticed when I turned on the vehicle my clock was set to a completely different time. It did the same thing tonight. I'm not really sure what the problem is, but obviously something is wrong.

The vehicle has been overall very reliable - I've had it for 3+ years and have only had to replace the tranny.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback or advice! Thanks.

Re: Electrical Problem? Any thoughts?

I'm thinking battery connections are loose, most likely the ground wire.

Thanks to you - I went out this morning and I found that the positive cable was lose. I tightened it and everything is normal now. I was preparing for the worst and it was no big deal! Yeah.
