d15b1 vs d15b8 w/mods?
my friend has a 90 civic std dpfi 4 spd d15b1 stock w/ac (showing code 16,fuel injector),with just a cone on the throttle body,we looked at the specs for the d15b1 & it shows 70 hp,
I have a 90 civic dx dpfi 5 spd d15b8 (swapped) & the d15b8's showing 70 hp,on some sites 72... anywayz I have headers, intake, exhaust, straight pipe, running synthetic oil,k&n oil filter, advanced timing,no front bumper(metal),removed AC,(all of it),no codes showing, hood scoop(active),fender wells out... & maybe some of the stuff dont help, but its more then what hes got, & he still seems to beat me? we've raced 3 times before & hes beat me,in november were going to the tracks to race, so hopefully I have a little bit more mods done by then, I'm planning on getting a new head & was wondering if that would do the trick?(16 valve head, even the 92 hp dx..) I know how to shift,Ive had the car 3 years, new excedy clutch, new engine & hes had the car 3 months, but we think because he has the 4 spd is why he beats me(why im shifting hes still taking 1st gear),but I always thought 5 spds was faster through gearing, but is there a reason why hes beating me?

i dunno man, dont get all mad or somethin when i say this but stop dumping money into that pos motor and save up for a swap. your not going to get much faster than that in the first place with dpfi.

Re: d15b1 vs d15b8 w/mods?
I know,I here that all the time,
I was just going to put air bags on my car,try too, this income tax so I wasnt all wanting to get a new motor, because my motor now has 66k on it,it a good running motor, so I was just going to do little mods now & go for looks (wide body kit/airbags) untill I actually got the money for a new motor but at least put a new head on it,bigger cam, lightweight flywheel/pulley,high ohm altenator,msd.... every now & then... maybe later on put in a dohc vtec with all the works but we just couldnt find out why he was beating me,we have practicly the same motor, but one a little more mods...

god that must be like watching lawnmowers race (and not the fast ones).
I have a MPFI setup for sale, just needs dizzy and ecu. Its in the classifieds. Throw that on and you'll beat him.

I have the mpfi setup with distributor, fuel rail,I just never put it on when I installed the motor,(I didnt have the right wiring harness to plug & play,so I didnt know nothing about it at the time..) but the ecu it came with was the pm9, thats the one I have in my car now,it makes me tach up to 6200, but my stock ecu,pm5 makes me tach out at 5000, I just never messed with it,but I'm getting it back from a friend I gave it too,he dont want it no more,(he plans on dropping an accord motor in it) so maybe if I install that by the info I found: http://www.fourthgenhatch.com/mpfi.html it should work, but I'm a little worried about cutting my harness wires, I think I'ma go for it & try to put it on before the next race,

Re: d15b1 vs d15b8 w/mods?
I didnt mean street race, where I live we have a track about 30 minutes from here, have heads up/tuning friday and bracket saturday. costs $20 to run as many times as you can on fridays, and on saturdays I think its like $30 and you still in till you get eliminated.

unless ur friend is gettin an F20b or an F23 tell him not to get an accord engine. Tell him to get a B16, its alot easier to mod and way better.
