96 Honda Accord Airbag Problems

Hi-

My 1996 Honda Accord's SRS light has been on for a while, and the dealership told me I need a new airbag, which will cost about $500. I purchased the Honda Care extended warranty but it looks like it's not covered.

Any suggestions for how I can argue with Honda to subsidize the repair or other ways I can fix this for less money? It seems like this is something that should be convered by warranty.
