Air Conditioning

I had my air conditioner serviced on my 98 Neon back in May - never had to have it worked on before and was told it was probably just out of Freeon, so for a small charge, the Freeon was replaced. It has run fine up to this point; however, now it comes on and then goes out on me, blowing in warm air for a few minutes, but then comes back on cold as ever and runs fine and does this on and off - I would assume that if there was a leak, it would continuously blow in warm air. Anyone have any ideas before I am told by a shop that I need to plop down an arm and a leg to fix something that isn't there? Thanks a lot.
